About the Author

The author, Cindy Reid, is a twenty-seven year old student at Marshall University in Huntington, West Virginia. She was recently accepted into the Communication Disorders undergraduate program. She is pursuing a Bachelors Degree at this time, but plans to further her education at Marshall University and obtain a Masters Degree in Communication Disorders also. When asked, this is how she described herself:

Ccolor>areless with her heart, giving it completely and fully. Holding back nothing. Knowing it could be broken but willing to take the chance.

Icolor>ridescent, having many shades of color when it comes to her personality. Funny, serious, independent, needy, kosher, untraditional, confident, and insecure all at the same time.

Ncolor>ovice in terms of Communication Disorders, knowing more than some but far from knowing all that she needs in order to consider herself a success.

Dcolor>addy's girl forever, no matter her age. Would choose to sit in his lap rather than the lap of luxury any day!

Ycolor>okel from the Appalachian Mountains, who hopes she never has to loose her southern twang for her career because it is a distinctive part of who she is.

Online Journal 12

This week has been pretty good for me! I have been on and off of the computer all week tweaking all of my projects. Everything is finally coming to a head! Writing the Preface and Acknowledgements proved to be a fairly easy task. On the other hand, I have had some trouble deciding how I want to do my About The Author. I started out just writing it as if I was a 3rd party speaking about myself. It was coming along fine, but then I thought I would like to do a little something more creative than that. I visited Mrs. McComas's blog and loved how she done hers. I don't want to copy though, even though I am jealous that I didn't think of it first!! I started it again but have decided to go ahead with my journal entry and come back to it. I may do an acrostic poem using my name to describe myself. Who knows? I finished all of my peer responses and noticed that Allison and Geneva have both began to put citations in their works, guess I had better get on the stick! Also, I noticed they have began to organize their topics pages. I need to do that to. I have lots of stuff planned for the next week...organizing my topics page, putting in citations, putting down some more resources I have used, and working on putting links in my unifying genre. I figure that will be on this weeks assignments anyway. I have a few questions about the APA references. I went to the Clinic Office and the only APA manual in there was the 4th edition. I took a look at it but it only confused me more. I will have to ask around and see if I can round one up that is 5th edition. That's all for now dear Journal!

Acknowledgements

I am sure I could make a list a mile long of all the people who had to listen to me go on about this Multigenre Research Project, but I won’t. I will just stick to the few who helped me to stay focused on the tasks at hand and who stimulated the flow of my creative juices.
First and foremost, Allison, Geneva, and Mrs. McComas, thanks for reviewing my work and giving me great feedback. Thanks for listening to my zany ideas and for encouraging me to do my best.

Next, Abbye and Julie, thanks for inviting me to the computer lab with you to do CD315 work and for reminding me about our MOO meetings and helping me get to them. Also, thanks for all the great laughs we have had I am so glad we went through all of this together; I think we have bonded! Can’t wait to graduate with you gals!!

I can’t forget my mom, Linda, and my husband, Matt, who were forced to view my MRP on a weekly basis, whether they wanted to or not! Mom, thanks for always being there when I was having a “moment” and for bringing me that Oreo Blizzard from Dee’s…I think I would have just died without it. And Matt, thanks for acting like you cared…I saw you roll your eyes more than once! Hee Hee!

Finally, and most importantly, thanks to all the members of my mailing list “Cleft Talk”. You are a great bunch of people and you have taught me more than I ever expected to learn. Thanks for being my inspiration and for being such great parents who are teaching their children to be loving, thoughtful, and understanding of this world we live in. Also, I can’t thank you enough for allowing me to use pictures and for graciously accepting me into your group. I will try to repay your kindness by being the caring SLP you want me to be.

Thanks again to everyone! I will not forget the things you have done for me.
